Each step is a real tripgen example: what goes in, what is computed and which source backs it. Unverified data is marked.
A day counts if you are in Schengen for any part of it
For the check date we take the 180 days ending on it. Entry and exit days count; overlapping records count once. The limit is 90 days.

Two summer trips and a plan for October
On Sep 1, 2026 you have used 78 days and have 12 days left.
ImportantThe planned stay of 20 days from 2026-10-01 exceeds the limit: the latest allowed exit is 2026-10-12. The full 20 days fit if you enter on 2026-10-16 or later.

NoteEES records entries and exits biometrically and computes the 90/180 itself; passports are no longer stamped once it is fully running. (EES started 2025-10-12, full operation 2026-04-10.) ETIAS is not yet in operation; the EU will announce the start date several months in advance (the Commission said in April 2026: last quarter of 2026). It will apply to visa-exempt travellers, incl. Ukrainian biometric passports, fee EUR 20, with a transitional period and a grace period of at least six months each; holders of an EU residence permit, incl. temporary protection, are exempt.
LowSome rules or figures were not re-read in the primary source or are tripgen assumptions; they are marked for verification: etias_ec.
Assumptions
Short stay: at most 90 days in any 180-day period; the 180-day period for a day is the 180 days ending on that day, both entry and exit days count, a calendar day counts once.
Ukrainian biometric-passport holders are visa-exempt for short stays (90/180).
Planning: day by day, like the Commission calculator
From Oct 1, 2026 the engine walks forward day by day: the window of each new day may hold no more than the limit. Past trips as of Sep 1, 2026.

Oct 16, 2026entry for the full length
The plan Oct 1, 2026 – Oct 20, 2026 (20 days) does not fit.
From the entry date only 12 days are available: leave by Oct 12, 2026; Oct 13, 2026 would already be an overstay. The full length fits if you enter on Oct 16, 2026 or later.
Temporary protection: days under the permit do not count
While the permit is valid, days in the state that issued it are a stay under the permit. Days in other Schengen states count. Poland, though, has its own absence rule — see the second example.

Poland: since 05.03.2026 temporary protection itself expires if you leave Poland for more than 30 days (Act of 13 June 2003 on granting protection to foreigners, Art. 109b(1)(2), added by the Act of 23 January 2026; the old UKR-status rule of the 2022 special act was repealed). Your stay 2026-06-01..2026-07-15 abroad is longer than 30 days.
Carry the temporary-protection permit with the passport: without it, border guards and EES count days in the issuing state as ordinary visa-free days.

True rental cost: certain, expected, worst case
The certain total is what you will definitely pay. The expected total adds the probability of damage times what you would pay from the excess (the probability is an engine assumption). The card hold and the excess are not added together: damage is charged from the deposit.

Motor TPL: why there is no price
Since Jan 1, 2025 every insurer prices by its own method. The old K1–K7 formula no longer applies, so a “formula calculator” misleads. The engine explains the rules and checks the offers you enter.
Not insurance advice: tripgen explains the rules and checks offers you enter, but never computes a policy price or recommends an insurer.
The old formula (a state base payment multiplied by coefficients K1-K7 and a bonus-malus class, Law 1961-IV) stopped applying on 01.01.2025. A site or answer that computes the price with K1-K7 is out of date: use real offers from insurers instead.
